At Department of Communication we believe that we can communicate to make a difference; a better tomorrow. We aspire to impart to our students the value of communication, and the realization that they can make a difference.

To this end, SNIT has a special focus in its curriculum; modules that concentrate on teaching life skills that create self-awareness and empower students, facilitating all-round development. Our lab facilities, exchange programs, internships and placement cells take care of the task of equipping our students with the necessary training, techniques and technology; while our faculty explore research and find creative ways to share and impart knowledge.

  • Electrical Technicians and technologists can specialize in technical sales, product representation, systems management, the design and manufacture of electronic devices and systems, or the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic systems and equipment.

Formation of R&D Cell

Association of ECE Department, inaugurated the R&D Cell on 19/10/2015 in order to create opportunities & promote research of students, for exploiting the available resources to the benefit of industry/society. In connection with R&D cell, we have a team of qualified & dedicated faculty members who focus on moulding the ideas of young talents to reality by helping them in the development of Hardware/Software. In association with this, we organized a State Level Science Quiz Competition (QUIZARD’15) on 19/10/2015 for Plus Two Students of nearby Schools.11 teams were participated from various Schools. Cash prize were issued to the topper.

Department Labs and Workshops

The budding Engineers of our Department experience practical realization of their theoretical concepts by acquiring practical experience in the following Workshops and Laboratories of the Department.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND CIRCUITS LAB

This lab provides experiments that are related to topics Electronic Circuit. The experiment modules are designed to give students the opportunity to construct circuits and verify theoretical relationships involving diodes, bipolar transistors and amplifiers. The objective of Electric Circuits laboratory is to impart hands on experience in verification of circuit laws and theorems, measurement of circuit parameters, study of circuit characteristics and simulation of time response. It also gives practical exposure to the usage of CRO, power sources, function generator etc. This lab entrusts the student to study the characteristics, applications of electronic devices, such as p-n junction diode, bipolar transistor, Field Effect transistor, LED, LCD & other photo electronic devices and Power control/regulator devices.

DIGITAL AND MICROCONTROLLER LAB

The lab has state of the art facilities for conducting experiments on basic digital systems based on LSI chips as well as advanced topics such as micro controller interfacing and embedded computing using 8 to 32 bit micro controllers. Along with the regular academic curriculum based experiments, the lab facilitates a platform for the undergraduate students to develop and validate newer concept based designs.

ANALOG INTEGRATED CIRCUITS LAB

The Analog electronics lab provides the undergraduate students an exposure to the basics of solid state electronics during the regular academic cycle and doubles up as a stage for the prototyping and validation of various undergraduate designs pertaining to low and medium power analog systems. A host of communication systems based experiments are also built at the analog electronics lab including various hardware based analog and digital modulation techniques like basic AM, BSBSC-AM, FM, TDM etc. for the undergraduate students to gain exposure.

Microwave and Optical Communication lab

The Microwave and Optical Communication lab is setup to introduce advanced concepts of transmission lines, radiating systems and high speed communication links to the students. The lab provides the students to try out various experiments on radiating systems and analyze the complex concepts introduced in the class.

DSP, COMMUNICATION AND SIMULATION LAB

This lab is used by the students to conduct practical pertaining to Wireless communications including study of modulation and de-modulation techniques, transmitters and receivers, analog and digital communication methodologies etc. Latest equipment like high bandwidth Digital Storage Oscilloscopes, multiple power supplies etc. are available in the lab besides training kits for studying the various communication techniques. This laboratory provides the students an opportunity to work on communication area.

ELECTRONIC PRODUCT DESIGN LAB

EPD lab is aimed for the design of Electronic products [PCB Layout and Designing]. Design, PCB layout, soldering, packaging and testing of Electronic products are carried out in this lab. The facilities include soldering stations, PCB layout and design softwares like ORCAD, PSPICE, and Ki cad.
